Fourth Annual Banquet of the Bibliophile Society. Boston: New Algonquin Club, January 11, 1906 [no printer or publisher]. The banquet was in honor of Bibliophile Society member William K. Bixby, and includes an etching of Bixby by W.H. Bicknell as a tissue-covered frontispiece, as well as a fold-out photograph of the punch bowl presented to him.
A variety of material was used in the making of this booklet, including Strathmore Japan for the wrappers, Japan vellum for most of the text, machine made paper for the punch bowl photograph, and two leaves of parchment for the dedication to Bixby (signed by the five members of the committee). Those five members are: Whitelaw Reid, George C. Perkins, J. Severing Jones, John P. Woodbury, Henry H. Harper.
Following the dedication to Bixby and a description of the punch bowl are "Remarks by Albert Bushnell Hart, LL. D."
Loosely inserted are two items:
1) A note on Hotel Touraine (Boston) stationery reading: "I had this copy of the Bixby brochure signed by all members of the Committee. They have all passed away, with the sole exception of myself. [signed] HH Harper"
2) A typewritten manuscript copy of Hart's "Remarks", with the following handwritten note from Harper: "Written by Albert Bushnell Hart LLD., Professor of History in Harvard Unversity, who delivered the address in person at the banquet. Ink correction by Prof. Hart. Pencil changes by HH Harper, to whom MS was submitted for criticism. [signed] HHH".
Modern ribbon tie to booklet, some curling to edges of wrapper. Wrapper hinge split about halfway. Hart's typewritten manuscript is splitting along the fold; approx. 1/4 of "hinge" remaining.
