Bound in russet brown crushed morocco by Zaehnsdorf, and tooled in the style of Roger Payne, with a large border on front and back covers built up from individual floral tools, roundels, fleurons, and pointille. Five wide bands to spine, with title in second compartment, author in fourth compartment, and two different designs (though both Payne-esque) in first and sixth, and third and fifth compartments. Elaborately tooled turn-ins, with vines, leaves, and pointille in gilt. Green silk endpapers. Zaehnsdorf "exhibition" stamp to rear pastedown. Top edge gilt. Measures approx. 5.5" x 8.25". Some light rubbing, with marks/stains to rear cover (see image).
