G.F. Hill (Introduction & Notes). Saint Francis of Assisi: XII Scenes from his Life and Legend after Giotto. London: Published at the Oxford University Press by Humprey Milford, 1915. Published for the Medici Society, Memorabilia No. CVI. 12 tipped-in black & white plates.
Bound in russet brown crushed morocco (signed "M★B") in the Arts & Crafts style, with gilt ruling to covers and title in gilt to the top of the front cover. Blind tooling extending from spine bands, terminating in three gilt dots (in the style of Sangorski & Sutcliffe/Douglas Cockerell). Four bands to spine. Gilt ruled turn-ins. While there are many bookbinders from the period with these initials (Maud Bird, Mary Bulkley, Maud Bartholomew, etc.), it would be difficult to apply a name to this one.
Measures approx. 4.5" x 5.75". Light rubbing to edges, corners, and spine tips. Offsetting to endpapers.
