Rossetti, Dante Gabriel. The House of Life. H.M Caldwell, 1903. Printed at the Colonial Press. Each leaf of text is printed within an elaborate floral border and includes a large ornate capital, all designed by Marion L. Peabody. Each initial and border has been hand illuminated in metallic gold, green, and silver, as well as green, pink, purple, yellow, red, and blue watercolors. Original gilt decorated cream cloth, spine lightly toned, front cover with a faded water stain, fore-edge ribbon ties lacking. Pages have some rippling (presumably due to watercolor-painted borders).
